Throttling Valves

• In industry, control  VALVE are used mostly for throttling applications, rather than for straight on-off functions like a home faucet. Throttling applications allow process controllers to continuously and precisely modulate a process variable such as temperature, flow, level or pressure at or around a process set point by continuously controlling a valve anywhere between zero and 100 percent opening.

Industrial Example

• For example, a temperature control on a large cooker in a food plant may modulate steam in a heating jacket on the cooker. The temperature controller would modulate the steam valve to achieve the proper cooking temperature to safely prepare and maintain the food.
