Types and working principles of globe valves

Globe valve, also known as shut-off valve, is the most widely used universal valve. The reason why globe valve is popular is that the friction between the sealing surfaces is small during the opening and closing process, it is relatively durable, the opening height is not large, it is easy to manufacture, and easy to maintain. It is not only suitable for medium and low pressure, but also for high pressure. The closing principle of a globe valve is to rely on the pressure of the valve stem to tightly adhere the sealing surface of the valve disc to the sealing surface of the valve seat, preventing the flow of the medium. The shut-off valve only allows one-way flow of the medium and has directionality during installation. The structural length of the globe valve is greater than that of the gate valve, and the fluid resistance is high. According to the channel direction of the globe valve, it can be divided into 1) straight through globe valve; 2) DC globe valve: In DC or Y-shaped globe valves, the flow channel of the valve body forms a diagonal line with the main flow channel, which reduces the degree of damage to the flow state compared to conventional globe valves, and therefore reduces the pressure loss through the valve; 3) Angle type globe valve: In an angle type globe valve, the fluid only needs to change direction once, so that the pressure drop through this valve is smaller than that of conventional structure globe valves; 4) Piston type globe valve: This type of globe valve is a variation of conventional globe valves. In this valve, the valve disc and seat are usually designed based on the plunger principle. The valve disc is polished into a plunger and connected to the valve stem, and the sealing is achieved by two elastic sealing rings fitted on the plunger. Two elastic sealing rings are separated by a ring, and the sealing ring around the plunger is pressed firmly by the load applied to the valve cover by the valve cover nut. The elastic sealing ring can be replaced and made of various materials. This valve is mainly used for "opening" or "closing", but it is equipped with a specially designed plunger or special ring.
